Entertainment & Nightlife in Slovenia

General

Nightlife in Slovenia is simply entertainment galore. Vibrant, adventurous and lively, the nightlife of Slovenia attracts large number of tourists across the globe. Be it a cultural event, a poker game at a casino or fast, thumping live music at a night club, Slovenian nightlife has something for all. There is a wide selection of theatres, cinemas, casinos and nightclubs in the larger towns.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana may be a small capital, but the student population and the city's western outlook ensure that the bars and clubs here are as good as anything you'll find in Berlin or Stockholm. Ljubljana has a good opera house and the symphony orchestra plays regularly in the Big Hall of the Cultural and Congress Centre.

One in ten of Ljubljana's inhabitants is a student, hence the proliferation of trendy cafés and small art galleries. Each year the International Summer Festival breathes new life into the Ljubljana cultural scene, sparking off a lively program of concerts and experimental theatre. For information about forthcoming cultural events, check Events in Ljubljana, a monthly pamphlet published by the Ljubljana Promotion Centre, and the English-language magazine Ljubljana Life, both available in major hotels and tourist offices.

Most of Ljubljana's bars tend to cluster on the streets running parallel to the river, radiating from Prešernov trg, which is the main square in Ljubljana. The more interesting bars tend to be on the backstreets, rather than directly facing the river.

Live music played at the numerous bars and restaurants is yet another attraction of Slovenian nightlife. The dance enthusiasts have ample opportunities to gyrate to the latest tracks played in the jazz clubs, discos and rock clubs. Parties featuring dance music are also an integral part of Slovenian nightlife. Wine bars are also thronged in large numbers.

Some well known bars and night clubs include Club Atrium, Nocni klub Slon, Guliver, Channel Zero Club, Fun Factory, Global, K4 Club, Tramontana and Lunapark.
